K to 1st

My oldest started kindergarten yesterday! So exciting. I love his school and he seems to too. He is excited about learning to read. He didn't like that they didn't do any science on the first day. Logan is so good with math and science type things its crazy. Must of got that from Lewis not me! lol

In other news I won first place this week on Scraplove's 5th week summerlovin contest. woot! You can see the digital tree layout below in a post a few down. I'm thrilled.

Today, Logan has a hurricane day. (for those up north this means he gets off school because of the hurricane instead of example for snow) We don't get many of them down here, but they are nice to make sure we don't have to drive around in the monsoon.

I have this weeks Scraplove challenge to work on this week. I don't know if I'm going to get anything else done, but it. Its a big project. A big ALTERED, about me project. I'll post pics when I'm done!

Slackin'

I am a slacker. I haven't done anything artsy in over 72 hours. Stinks.
Took my oldest to check out his new class today. Worked out a bit. Took too many self portraits of me with the boys. This is as good as it got. My arms aren't long enough. heh.

This weekend is going to consist of time with my sister. Time with the boys. Getting Logan's last minute things ready for school. If possible I'd like to get some new shoes. I need new running shoes and sandals. Random bouts of creating I'm sure will be thrown in there.

My birthday is coming up in a few months. I'm already making a little list of things that catch my eye. Here are a few things I'd like to get
eventually. But most likely only one or two of them for my bday.

• Pogo- Polariod printer on the go (so cool) only works w/ phones and cameras though.
  
• copic markers- so cool, expensive as hell, must try!
• prisma colored pencils-I have one set. I LOVE these. I want more. They are like butter.
• new bpafree water bottle for the gym prefer blue
  
• moleskin sketch book

Off to bed soon. Its been a long day.

Week 5 Summer lovin on Scraplove

This is the layout I did this week for the scraplove contest. Our challenge was to get inspiration from the picture below and add tons of polka dots. I thought this was a great challenge. I instantly knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to do a tree similar to the one in the photo, but instead of using pink accents I wanted baby blue. I added polka dots to the tree instead of doodles on the "branches". I also used a layering effect of polka dots in the background.

















I'd like to one day get it printed out and frame it. I'll have to figure out where to hang it. Last night was rough. Now little Leo is sick too. So I'm still feeling blah and he's just coming into the worst of it. He woke up at 11 last night and 4. Ugh.. I'm beat. We got to sleep a little more around 6 to 7 this morning. I hope Logan doesn't get this. Friday we're going to see his new kindergarten class! I'm so excited. So is he.
Well the day calls. Off the computer I go..

I'm trying to work on Scraplove's summerlovin week five challenge. I'm so tired and sick though. Everything I think up just seems so involved.. Like I need 2 weeks instead of one to finish it.

I am happy to report I got third place this last week for challenge 4. I also got many bonus points so its like I won first. yeah!

I found a new blog that I'm going to join in on . Its Elise Blaha's paper challenge one. I love it. Every week is a prompt. Very art journalish which is what I'm leaning towards doing alot of lately. I'm just debating now whether I want to start from week one or start now at week 26 I think she's at..

Did I mention I hate being sick? I don't get sick very often so its always a shock to me when I do.

I'm going to try to go sketch a little bit if Mr. Man allows it. Leo sometimes doesn't mind if I draws while he plays other times eek!

Ooh I almost forgot. I have a new "want". Its totally ridiculous that I want these but I do! They are expensive. I figure I'll have to wait till my birthday for a set of them, but gosh they look lovely and sound neat! Copic Markers

Layers

I'm working on layers and texture in photoshop. Its coming along. The image above is of a seahorse I took at the aquarium the other day. I added a texture layer and played with the colors. I wanted it to have a whimsy dreamy feel to it. Something you could use almost as a background, but not quite.

I'm also sick. Yes sick! Bah! I hate being sick. There is 5 things I should be doing right now and I don't feel good enough to do them! I need to vaccuum, clean the bathrooms, mop the floor, make breakfast cookies, and fix the fish tank filter. I wanna nap. I'm waiting for Leo's morning nap and we're going to snuggle in and sleep as long as I can get him to. Usually when we cosleep he never wants to get up.

I'd like to work on some other stuff to if I felt better. I'd like to do the caardvark in your closet challenge, a couple art journal pages, and I'm working on some bottle cap embellishments. Off to take some more airborne.

Errands to run

I did this art journal page the other day for my art journal book. Its something someone said to me once. It sticks in my heart. I drew it with black pen and used water color pencils and marker on it. This is the best picture I could get.

I have to go out and do some errands. I also need to start organizing for the garage sale that I hope to have next weekend. Logan really wants to sell some of his old toys so he can buy a new Wii game. He really wants the Indiana Jones lego wii game. It is a cute game, but I am not going to drop fifty dollars when its not Christmas or his birthday. So we'll be having a garage sale. I have alot I need to sell too. Clutter. It just gets so bad. I can't believe how easy it is to end up with so much junk!

My sister wanted to go to Disney today. I just couldn't. Its TOO hot. Too crowded and gosh I don't want to drop 150 + dollars to take the boys there today. Lets not forget little one has become quite screechy on car drives and I don't want to drive an hour there listening to screeches.

Well I need to get ready to go. Grocery, return game, post office, bank, big lots, and then home.

My Dream Job

Isn't it weird that my dream job is cleaning and taking care of fish at an aquarium?? Do you know how many science classes you have to take to get that job?? Tons.. I'm not good at science classes. *sigh* I eyeballed this lady at the aquarium yesterday and thought someday maybe. Thinking how nice it would be to be floating around in the humongous tank scrubbing algae and humming a tune. Ahh.. When I worked in a pet store for many years of my life, I spent most of the time with an arm in a fish tank. It was nice. I miss it.

Onto Art! You would think that would be my dream job. lol. It is also, but in a different way..
This is the altered frame back I made for this week's Scraplove summer lovin contest. I used felt, ribbon, paint, pp, handmade clay pieces, paper punches, and a sticker quote. Turned out pretty. The sticker quote says" A wee bit of heaven drifted down from above, a handful of happiness, a heart full of love".







Off to get the house in order and make homemade baked potato soup from a WW recipe. We'll see how that goes!
