What in the world? Traditional??

Me do a regular layout? I know! Shocking. I made this the other day. It is hybrid if that counts. I printed out the little journal tags from this kit. It was freebie off this blog.

I journalled alot of stuff about Logan on the layout and I like the colors. It turned out nice. I like it. I think I'm going to continue to work with doing more hybrid stuff since I don't really care for the look of my handwriting AND I have so many digital elements.

I used to worry about not having my handwriting on my pages and that future generations would like to see it. But now I kinda realize I have hand written alot. I do constant art journal pages that have nothing, but tons of my hand writing. I figure they'll be able to deal with some printed out computer buffed up layouts.

It got cool again today in Florida. I'm over the hot, then cold, then hot thing this winter has been doing. It's killing my allergies. Well January is almost over and I have succeeded in doing the 365 day photos. All of Jan down. Tonight gym, create, watch House season four netflix dvd with hubby, and more laundry.

Weekend?? what to do?

More digital! I love it. This layout came together so quickly this morning I couldn't believe it. I made it with a free kit from elemental scraps. I love that site. So much fun. I also came across another site now called scrapartist that has dollar fridays. eh.. More digital stuff! I am holding myself back the best I can. Need...strength....more .... strength...

I am leaving soon to go get the kindergarten kid from school in few mins. I was supposed to have a garage sale this weekend, but I started feeling sick on Tuesday. I'm still slightly sick. I'm starting to wonder if the Airborne is working or this is just allergies?? Either way Leo has a real deal cold so I guess there's no garage saling going on this weekend. I really wanted it to be this weekend, because next weekend we're going camping. I need all that crud out of my garage!

I'm excited to go next weekend, but a little leary. I've never taken Leo camping. He's going to flip. He loves it outside. I also need to plan a trip for March too. One of my resolutions is to go camping at least 5 x's this year. The hot months are out, so I gotta get moving now. We have an air conditioner in the pop up, but it just blows artic. There's no in between. Its either hot or you're freezing! Hence the need to go in the cooler months.

Well I'm off to get the boy. I have no plans now for the weekend. Kinda bums me out. Hope I feel good enough to go to the gym tonight. Last night I was struggling.

Have a great weekend!

Digital enabler... I shop too much

I have bought a couple new things for my digital scrapbooking folder lately. I found this GREAT GREAT deal today. 3 bucks!! for a huge Vera Lim collection! 92% off!!! You can't pass that up and its gorgeous! Here's part of the embellishments it came with and a picture of some of the papers...

And now I've been eyeballing this 365 day kit off another site that is making me drool! I have been keeping up with my photos this month and plan to the whole year. I think this kit is gorgeous to use with them. Its only 20 for all of it, but jeez... I'm really trying not to spend anymore money... urgh.. Click on the picture to get a better view of the 365 day kit. Have to go make dinner then hold myself back from buying this. lol.

Swoon

I made this last night. I love it. I've been wanting to do a Twilight based layout for awhile. I used so many different pieces of different kits, its crazy! I took the picture of my books myself. The Bella/Edward pic I got online.

I bought 10 dollars worth of digital stuff from Elemental scraps today. They have their dollar day Monday today!! Can't beat it. I love that site.

Winter

What a great day. I got so much accomplished. You know that feeling when everything seems to get done and you don't feel like you could have smooshed another thing in to do if you tried? Well thats how my day went. Here's my uber list of things I got done today.

  • Cleaned out and organized my pantry
  • cleaned the fish tank ornaments for the garage sale
  • priced most of the stuff for the garage sale
  • Made Lewis his delicious bacon biscuits for this week for breakfast
  • Made Sushi for lunch
  • Went grocery shopping for the week
  • mopped the kitchen floor
  • Made chili for dinner
  • took out the garbage for tomorrow
  • three loads of dishes from all the cooking!
Thats all extra stuff to my normal activites. I normally cook 3 times a day, but I don't normally go all out and bake things and use the oven and all that all day long. Feels good. Tomorrow post office and possibly Target. Not sure.

I want to work on Challenge 6 or 7 from the Amazing digi race. I'm a little behind.

Tonight is Army wives (10pm est) on Lifetime!! They started playing season two again last week. Tonight is the second show of season two. God, I love that show. It is SO good. I am telling you Netflixers out there get the show! One episode will hook you, I'm telling you.

I added a pic of my newest digi layout of Leo.I used the blind date kit off of catscraps.com. Cute kit! Notice how so many of them have Leo in them? Logan is so hard to get a photo of. *sigh* He hates it now. Well I have things to do. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Polka Dot Caardvarks

I had fun doing this new Caardvarks challenge. My cards have actually gotten down to the smaller side in my stash. I just don't make as many cards as I used to. At least Caardvarks keeps me creating cards.

Our weekend seems to be pretty low key. Might see my sister. Might not. Might go to our new favorite Indian restaurant. Might not.. I do need to get milk. Other than that.. the sky is the limit.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Looking for Trouble

I've been having such a blast doing digital stuff lately its all but consumed me. I made myself do two cards early this morning, (haven't got pics yet) and a layout (traditional shocking I know!). Last night I managed to do two digital layouts. This one is my fav. It was made for this challenge here on Elemental Scraps. I really love this board. They don't have issues with you using other people's products and you can earn points for the store to buy stuff. Too cool. Many of the girls on there are also participating in the Amazing Digi Race which I am totally loving.

Yesterday was kind of a bummer. I sent my son to school after he had been home 2 day sick. He had been sick since Saturday. Well he hadn't had a fever though he still had the cough. Well they called me at lunch time to come get him. His fever was back and he didn't feel well. urgh.. I felt so crappy. I probably infected the whole class because I thought he was well enough and I didn't want him to miss anymore school. urgh... Super mom I'm not.

So I am just decided to let him stay home today. I have his work from the last three days. We're just going to do it and then run up to the post office. I have to send out some stamps to my uber cool bloggy friend, Lauren. Sorry its taking me so long!

I also plan to make some Carribean Black bean soup today in the crock pot. Nothing better than cooking in a crock pot when its cold and eating warm hot soup for dinner! I also get to use up the rest of the ham, I made the other night. Big plus.

Supplies from the layout:
Supplies:Arrow, all papers, buttons, stitches- Forever and Always kit by Erin Keith(elementalscraps.com), black crackled rubons [ ] by LIsa Sisernos(littledreamerdesigns), font-cry kitty,font- ck script, adobe photoshop elements 6.

Been up to alot... posting not so much..

I've been wanting to blog for a few days now and I keep having digital scrapbooking, hand carving stamps and of course little boys who attract my attention first. I've been having a really great time on a digital scrapbooking board called Elemental Scraps. They have a ton of monthly challenges that if you do, you can earn "points" that turn into money to use in their shop on digital supplies. Its great. It doesn't hurt I like their set up and their challenges too. I did this layout for a template challenge on there. They give you extra points if you use their supplies on the challenge layouts. OF course this enabled me to buy a few kits. lol. I think I'm going to use this template monthly this year as my own sort of 365 day/monthly layout. Or at least a version of it. I think it'd look neat as a printed out book with all 12 mths with the same circle type layout. And the template was FREE! this week with the challenge.

I also managed to pump out another paper adventure page. I did "Play" theme. This one has been stumping me for awhile then all of a sudden, I knew what I wanted to do. And last but not least I was thrilled to find out that my fav book series (Sookie Stackhouse Vamp series by Charlaine Harris) will have the 9th book in the series out in May of this year!! Yeah!!! *rubs hands together* I can't wait. They aren't gooey romantic PG vamp stuff like Twilight, but god they are funny and great with a nice little plot to go along. I love them. LOVE THEM. The HBO series "True Blood" is based on them. They are now available at Target. I saw them the other day. Year of the Vamps woo hoo!

Nope!! You see this paper line by Bella Blvd. I'm in *LOVE*! How cute is this!!
Check it out!

Amazing Race Challenge 4

I'm so impressed with myself that I finished another digi race challenge. This one was hard. We were supposed to use 3 altered/artsy things on the layout and then lots of heart and soul journalling. Well thats what you got! I love this layout. I've been wanting to use a jar on a layout like this forever. Lets just say I've been uppin' my digital scrap "supplies" over the last few days.
So shouldn't be!!

We had a great day today as family. Nothing big. Went grocery shopping. I'm trying to have a no spend week starting tomorrow. I got everything I need to cook for the whole week. No needless trips to JoAnns or Target. Where I waste money. Just hanging out here with my little Leo while Logan is in school. Hubby and Logan are off tomorrow so that's nice. Its even supposed to be warmer. Us Floridian's can't take this brutal 40 degree cold. *brrr* No, NO really don't throw snowballs at me through the computer. lol

Off to get ready for bed. I'm reading through the Twilight books...again.. I'm on Eclipse right now. I've only seen the movie once. I am SO ready for it to be on dvd already. Have a great MLKJ day! Inauguration on Tuesday!! Can't wait!

Afraid of Change? 52Q week 2

This week's challenge by Emily Falconbridge 52 Question was "Are you afraid of change?". I made this tag to go in my book with journalling on the back. The answer is, I am. I dislike change so much. I'm a stable sort of gal, who gets her "roots" in and likes things as they are. I like to think of my life in eras and I get very sad when an era ends. Like when I stopped going to college and living with Donica or now they fact I know my child bearing/baby making era is over. Its sad. There is so much with change that is good. I mean to grow we have to change. I get that. But there is so many things I just don't ever want to change. Like my friendships, where I live, how the boys love me completely and unconditionally and we have not yet hit the teenage boy era. Thank goodness! My stay at home mom era will eventually pass also once Leo is in school. That makes me sad too.

So thats what I made. I love it. Its very cute. I cut up a small Eric Karle book to get the images. I have a larger of the same book. I love his artwork. He is truly gifted.

Well its the weekend and I have no plans. I do have some serious digi stuff I need to accomplish. I also have made coffee to drink. So gotta go!

Amazin race challenge 3

Here's what I came up with this week for the race I'm playing along with. The challenge was to go back and redo one of your first layouts you ever uploaded. Well this is as good as I could figure out to do. I couldn't' find where I've uploaded it to though.. just flickr. It was the first one I did on flickr.

We were supposed to only use the same pics on the layout, same journaling, but could change everything else. And a big part was to use your new knowledge on the layout you didn't know then. Here's the old one:

And the new one:

Pencillines sketch 116

I did another Pencillines sketch. I love working with sketches when I do digital. Very fun.
This one was very easy with only one pic.

Supplies I used:
(tree-Michelle Coleman, bow, ribbon, red pp,green paper- and red backgound paper-Leora Sanford, white snow font-Happy girl designs
white letterfont-Horn wide,
red stitch frame-Tia Bennett,
brown paper-Amy Teets
white paper-colab kit Parisian holiday(oscraps.com)., red swirls-Faith True, photoshop elements 6.)

Its been a pretty good day so far. Made Chocolate chip pancakes for the boys. Our sleepover friend did not like them. lol. Not surprising. Between Logan who is very picky and him there is like two things like have in common they like. Lets just say we normally have pizza for dinner on the nights Logan's best bud sleeps over.

I'm going to go see my sister today. I have tons of things to bring her. I'm excited to go and spend time with her. Gotta get going!

52Q

New mini book of tags for the 52Q year long challenge with Emily Falconbridge.

Used my new bind it all. Love it! I've very excited to do another year long project with her. I like seeing what she does. I'm involved in 3 year long projects now. I think that one of the other art journal things I'm doing, I might do an all digital art journal.

This was week one for 52 Q. The question was "What are your wishes for 2009?"

I didn't have any white plain tags, so I cut out 32 tags from my scraps and bound them in a little album. I'll make more as the year goes, but I plan on doing some front and back and some with only the question on one side. I love my bind it all!

We're having a sleep over tonight. Pizza was eaten. I feel ill. eh.. I KNEW I should have eaten before it came! I have two extra points left over for the next two days. lol. Jeez..

Have a great weekend everyone!

Amazing Race challenge 2

Supplies:
(green background-Julia Makotinski, blue painted background-Julia Makotinski, brown kraft scalloped edge-Amy Teets, chipboard letters-lisa sisneros, green rick rack-Erica Zane, pp on tags-Erica Zane, acrylic tags-pattie knox, journal circle tag-Lauren Reid, photoshop elements 6)

I made this to play along with the Amazing Digital race challenge two. But realized after making it, I'm one photo over the amount asked to do. Oops! Oh well.. I love how it turned out and didn't want to "fix" that since I'm not officially racing. So here it is! I think I might go and plug in 4 photos of Logan on the same layout so I can have one of each of the boys. I think it'd be cute. No time to do that right now, but I will!

I forgot to take a picture yesterday for my 365 photo challenge. I'm going to cheat and take a picture of my laundry area, since that's what I did yesterday. I FINALLY got my dryer fixed and clear to use. I am petrified of having a dryer light on fire or something. You'd think I'd have a clothes line instead. (I do want one, but its so humid here as a friend told me)

While my dryer was out of commission I was drying things out on hangers in the back porch. God they were crispy. Would fabric softner help this? If I was to ever do that in the future on a clothes line.

Well gotta get dressed and pack Logan's lunch. Then its off to get things done for today. I plan on an oil change, return stuff to Home Depot, then SUPA Target, then home. I have a strict list for Super Target. lol... lets see if I can stick to it.

Supplies:

Amazin' Racin'

I found there is a group of digital scrappers doing a contest. They are calling it the Amazing Digital Race. I WISH I had found it sooner. I would have joined! I'm so bummed. But I can still participate on the side lines. Which I am.

The first challenge was to do a digi layout with tearing a photo into at least 3 pieces and journaling on the layout. They showed a tutorial on how to make the photo look torn. Very cool.. I didn't know how to do this.

Here's what I came up with.

(Supplies: blk background- Lovey Dovey freebie digi kit by Faith True, Red cardstock, and love letter buttons-luv U 4ever digital kit by Memory makers and Emily powers, Buttons-thankful digi kit by Julia Makotinsky, white stitching- flossy stitches digi embellishment by Katie Pertiet, chihuahua font-CK cursive, white font-fusi, photoshop elements 6)

Other than that I'm running behind on getting Logan to bed. Have a good night everyone!

Saturday, January 03, 2009

I finished 3 more art journal pages for the paper adventure prompts. I know, I know..the year is over, but I still want to finish them. I think I have 14 or so more to go. I did the prompts style, current favs, and a person. The baby is my friend's baby she just had who is a preemie. He is doing great. I'm thrilled. I love the little guy already!

Other than messing with that I've just been enjoying the new year starting. Trying to get into the spring cleaning/organizing mood. There are so many things I want to do this year. I feel like I have more energy than ever.

One of the first things I want to do is set up a trip to Fort Wilderness for us to go camping. Now that Leo is walking so well, he'll have a blast. Logan loves camping too. Hubby starts his new job on Monday. I hope it goes well. I kinda wish he still had Fridays off so it'd be easier to camp, but oh well. We also want to take Logan to the Lego store at downtown Disney. He'll FREAK out. He loves Legos.

One of my goals this year is for us to go camping at least 5 times this year. I think we'll manage that easily. I can't wait for beach weather again too. We have little to no winter here, and I'm already ready for summer. lol.

Dream Girls challenge 19

Supplies: first font-Kellie Miza (glass polkadot, black tree-Miss Crows, white/black pp-rhonna farrer, black scalloped paper-Sharon Carroll (sweet kit), blk/white ribbon-Faith True(sunshine girl kit), orange pumpkin made by me. white font on tree- wolfgang caps, photoshop elements 6.

I made this for Dreamgirls challenge 19.
The challenge was to do a black and white layout with the only color being something you made yourself as an embellishment. Also you had to use the word "New" in the title or journaling.

I am trying to do as many digital layouts as I feel like doing. I know I won't be able to do one daily, but I still will as long as I'm feeling creative. I am having to write on here and in general on my computer with a new usb keyboard. Little Leo decided reaching over and pulling off my space bar key off my computer was fun! He had did the same to my enter key a week ago. I was living with out my enter key. I type. I took typing classes in high school. I don't hunt and peck so it was difficult with no enter key. It is IMPOSSIBLE with out a space bar.

No gluing them down. Nope won't work. Hubby found a keyboard online for 30 bucks. He's replaced them on laptops before. So hopefully we can do that. I don't want a new computer. I love my computer. So I'm going to do what I can to keep this one.

Caardvark Jan 1st!

I was chosen to be a guest designer for Caardvarks Jan 1st challenge. It was fun! Its posted now at Caardvarks. This time the challenge is based on a Page Maps sketch. The DT did an amazing job as the other guest designers. You should go check out all the eye candy. Check out the flickr group for Caardvarks or add to it! Here's the sketch and the two cards I made for the challenge.

The flower card: I made this card with alcohol inks on Tim Holtz clear fragments. They are small acrylic blocks you can use inks on. Very cool. The flowers were BG cut outs with brads. For the caardvarks Jan 1st page map inspired challenge.

The frog bday card:I did this hybrid card for Caardvarks Jan 1st page map inspired challenge. It was so fun. Mostly all BG color me happy line. The grey paper with the white fonts were made and printed off the computer. The frog papers and heart tag was made with traditional supplies. I love playing with fonts.
