Scraptastic American Idol #5

Here's my layout for Scraptastic's Am. Idol challenge week 5. The challenge was to pick a song and use a part of the song in your layout. I choose "Knock on Wood" and used wood grain paper. Since it was a 70's song, I had to make the layout have a 70's feel. I think I did that using lots of oranges and browns. The layout also had to have stitching. I stitched on the scalloped circles.
The large title is made with Basic Grey stickers from the Porcelain line. Wow I love those things. They are so pretty and look very much like watercolor paint.

Today was hubby's birthday. We kinda celebrated on Saturday when Logan and I baked him a cake. I made him some new hamburger recipe with kaiser rolls and a baked potato. It was a nice weekend. Tonight was his actual birthday and he had to eat leftover crawfish pasta from last night. lol. Poor guy. Hope he didn't mind too much. We did go out to lunch at our favorite deli and next door to our little paper back used bookstore.

Tomorrow I have to take Logan to school and Leo to the doctor. Poor kid has a molar that is not breaking thru and looks horrible. It looks almost like a blood blister in his mouth where it isn't coming out. Also he slammed his thumb in the sliding glass door hard. His whole nail is purple. The kid is going to be the one making me spend time in the emergency room. He is always in trouble and always looking for more.

I got him a big boy hair cut the other day. It makes him look even more like his brother. Well time to watch an episode of Tudor's on dvd I got from Netflix and then to bed. I'm so not tired. Not one bit. eh..

Birthday invites

I managed to throw together some birthday invites for my son's birthday coming up. I had them printed out at Walgreens as 5x7 invites with envelopes. The cool little star wars men were illustrated by a guy named Morgan 19 on flickr.

Its difficult to find anything lego star wars to use for birthdays. There is tons of Star Wars stuff, but not Lego star wars.

The other things are from my digital kits. Turned out cute eh?

I realized today I have like 2 days to finish three monster atc's for Lauren!! Sorry Lauren totally blanked on all of March!!

Finished my scrapbook layout for my Scraptastic entry for this week. I still need to get a good photo of it. I am also excited to work on this weeks, So you think you can scrap digital layout.

Turned in the stuff for the boys passports this weekend. I'm so excited to get them and my new one. Also this is the last week before Spring break for Logan. Yeah! I can't wait as much as him! Thanks for looking!

These are not mine, but my favs!

I'm going along on the So you think you can scrap digi challenge on after five designs. Its so much fun so far. Here are some of my fav layouts people have put up. Its an annonomous contest so I can't give credit, but you will be able to public vote on Monday.

Once again, mine is not in this bunch. You'd probably be able to find mine in a nano second though if you know me at all. lol. Here's a link to all the entries if you want to see them. They are amazing.

This first one blows my socks off. If she doesn't win this round at least there is some serious injustice going on!

Here's a few others I really loved. Many of the layouts were made with this kit.

Logan is too sick to go to school today. I do have to still drag him up to get our passport pictures and get his glasses fixed. Leo bent his one pair of glasses and his other pair are already loose. Active 5 year old boy with glasses+one yr old brother= glasses that get a beating.

American Idol challenge 4 Scraptastic

Here's what I did this week for the American Idol contest on Scraptastic this week. The challenge was bling and stamping. Well I did most of it digitally. The black pp, sequins, mask, and stitching are all digital and I had the picture printed out 8x10. Pretty cool hybrid in my book. I'm really trying to experiment more with what you can merge digtial with traditional and what you can do with photos.

I would have liked to do a few different things with this now that its done, but I'm good with how it turned out. Hopefully I'll make it to next week. *fingers crossed*

I also have started the new digital contest "So you think you can scrap". Its a challenging one. Gotta work on that layout tonight. The theme is "That is so me!". You're supposed to do a layout about something or things that are so you. Like you always wear purple or when you friends see dragonfly stuff they think of you. Etc.. Not supposed to add pictures of yourself. Crazy eh?

Off to work on some stuff. No gym for me tonight. I'll go tomorrow. I think I'm going to try to get 5 times in this week, instead of my usual 4. I did last week and it felt good.

Have a good week! Thanks for looking.

DreamGirls challenge #24

I did this last night to participate in the DreamGirls challenge "if you were a rich girl". I had lots of fun and love the look of the digi layout.
I'm still coughing sick and over it! eh..
Tomorrow I have a kids birthday to take Logan to, then onto cleaning his room. It is seriously horrendous. There is barely a path to walk through to get to the bed.
Bought way too many digital kits from ScrapArtist from their Fab Friday sale. Who can pass up a dollar item?? Good stuff.

Have a good weekend everyone!

ice cream digi dream

Last night I got to have fun and play along at a speed digi scrap on Elemental Scraps. Its fun. When they do day ones, I can't do them. I always participate when they are night ones.

Here's what I made.

I'm also going to be starting a new digi contest called "So you think you can scrap?" run by After Five designs and Shabby Pickle designs. I doubt I'll win. I'm not the most skilled digi scrapper by far, (you should see what some ladies can do) but I love me some challenges! Six weeks isn't that long really.

I plan on meeting a friend today at the park and going grocery shopping. I have a cough that has seemed to settle in my chest though the cold is long gone. urgh.. I hate that.

Well off to start my day. Leo is throwing his cereal all over the floor. Lovely. Thank goodness for dogs.

If I ruled the world - Got Mojo challenge blog entry

Okay I know, I know I said I'd be doing cards tonight. But well... I couldn't help myself! I realized I only had a day left to still participate in the Got Mojo scrapblog challenge. So here it is. Digi of course. (with so little time left I had no choice!)

I love how it turned out. Very cute. Fun. I kept getting serious with it for awhile and then decided I'd put fun things on it. I mean well... except maybe about the housing market. I can't help it, I want to move! (well at least I'd like the option)

The challenge was to list what you would do if you ruled the world and to put stars on the layout.

Thanks for looking!

The face-Scraptastic challenge 3 American Idol contest

I love how this layout turned out. Its probably one of my fav I've done paper wise in a LONG, LONG time. Of course this photo is one of my favs too. I love when Leo makes that duck face. It gets us all laughing.

This weekend has been really nice. Logan is at my parents for the weekend. Lewis, Leo and I went to our fav Indian restaurant for lunch. OH MY GOSH. It is so good. They have this tikki masula type stuff that is to die for. Leo loves their fried potato type things and their naan. Right next door is an Indian grocery store. We stopped in there and found so many cool things! I got some new frozen Indian meals that I haven't found at our grocer. I have tried the brand before and loved it, but they had different types of frozen meals! yum! Indian food is surprisingly healthy for the most part. You'd be amazed. (and the heat helps ya burn calories lol)

Well I think I'm going to go and make some critter cards for the new Caardvarks challenge. I also have the movie "The Women" from Netflix to watch. Next I get "Dead Poets Society". I have never seen that movie can ya believe it? I have an unnatural attraction to Robert Sean Leonard. Yum.... in a suit. Be still my heart. :)

Scraptastic American Idol #2

Here's my challenge entry for this week's American Idol contest on Scraptastic. I love how it came out. I did mostly hybrid stuff. Working out the photo collage in photoshop and the title is also a print out from digital font letters. We were not allowed to use any patterned paper or anything "boxed". It was to be an unplugged challenge. No premade embellishments, you needed to make the stuff. You were allowed to use computer and stamps. You're still "making" it then, not just opening up a box and glueing things on. kwim?

The leaves I made with white paper, watercolors, colored pencils, ink pads and decorative edge scissors. The whole title is popped up and has alot of depth. The photo doesn't do it complete justice. But I could only add one photo on the contest gallery, so I'll only post one here too. You get the picture.

I also recently got this magazine/book. Sorry the pic is a little blurry. I LOVE it. Its the best book for hybrid/digital/photo altering with photoshop elements that I've bought in a LONG, LONG time. Its got a billion tips. And it isn't beginner, but it isn't too advanced either. I am going through each techinque and trying them out. Worth shelling out 14.99 dollars for a bonified magazine! I got mine at Books a Million.

Well tonight is Biggest Loser, so I plan on watching that. I love that show. I was very lucky to already hit the gym earlier when hubby said he'd watch the kids. Yeah :) Its nice not having to go tired.

Off I go! Have a great night!

Digi Dare #123

Here's my newest digi layout for the digidares challenge blog. I love how it turned out! I'm so glad I did it. I am going to try to participate every week. Sometimes with the American Idol contest going on I get bogged down and don't have the time. Don't get me started about it being daylights savings time today. eh... I HATE daylight savings. Esp. when its "spring ahead". BAH..I grew up in Indiana and we did not DO daylight savings there when I was growing up. I didn't have to start doing it till I moved down to Florida at 13. So I clearly remember a great period of time when this stupid time issue wasn't my nemesis.

Well off to see my sister today. Have a great Sunday!

Been slacky slow

I haven't had a real chance to update my blog. I just keep getting busy. I did manage to make this layout last night during a speed scrap crop at Elemental Scraps. I love speed scrap nights. They give you instructions every 10 mins to make a digital layout. At the end of the hour you have a cool layout. Its fun to see what everyone does and chat while its going on. Love it.

Its funny I made it last night then today the digi dares weekly challenge was posted. Its pretty much exactly what I made in this layout, but you are only allowed to use two sides of the layout.

This weekend I plan on re-attaching the bookcases to the wall and filling them up again. Fish tank also has to be put back and refilled. Its a 72 gallon that houses one large goldfish. He's in Logan's 10 gallon right now and smooshed in there.

Its been fine for the week, but Logan wants him to stay in there. I don't know how to break it to him that Goldie can't stay in there long term. Car oil change needs to happen tomorrow too. Having a fun sleepover tonight. Busy weekend. Off to scrap a little and then go to bed! No gym tonight. I'll go Sat and Sun night. 5x this week. Nice..

new update with floors!

I can't believe I went so long with out an update. I've been busy. I got new floors! Very happy with my new laminate floors. I went to Orlando this weekend to visit my friend. We had a nice time. It was strange for us with all the kids. She has 4, I have my 2. It was a full house!

Her second to youngest is the same age as Leo. Morgan and Leo had a blast together. So cute. They gave each other stuff, grabbed hands, helped each other get into trouble. It was adorable!!

I also have been scrambling to get my first layout done for Scraptastic's American Idol contest. Here's week one... The challenge was to pick a song and do a layout that represents it. I picked "Magic" by Robin Thicke. I love that song. Its basically about having the magic inside you and being able to do anything. Being happy, upbeat song.. I think I conveyed that with my layout. I made the picture in photoshop by extracting Leo and adding the digital patterned paper. Cute eh? We also had to use at least 10 pp's on the layout. I think my only complaint is it might look a little girlie with all the pink. Oh well...

I'm going to go watch the Amazing Race I taped and hit the sack. School tomorrow and I need to go get Leo his first pair of real shoes. He's still wearing Robeez. lol Here's him in his Robeez. Lion ones. hehe I couldn't help myself. I love em.
