End of May

Its another release day! I can't believe that this is my 4th kit in my Etsy to go up for sale. I'm very happy that I'm doing it and getting these done. Even if they don't sell, it makes me feel accomplished. This kit that I sneak peeked on Friday is up for sale in my Etsy!

This weekend once we got back from my parents I made this card with it. This is all from my kit except for the sticker sentiment which is a SRM sticker.

I also made the banner on my art/scrapbooking resume blog you can check out here. Also go check out Lauren's blog for more goodies made with this kit!

This weekend we went to my parents for Memorial day weekend. They rented a pontoon and we cruise around the lake my parents live on exactly once. Then it rained the rest of the day. Go figure. It never rains there.

We still had a good time. Got some great pictures.

I can't believe that May is finally over. It has seemed like the longest month to me of the year so far. I'm really excited for June. Trips, beach, summer, fun. Can't wait. Here's my digital page for May. I finished it tonight.

Thanks everyone for stopping by. Hope your Memorial day is good and thank you to all the military people past, present, future.

Heart the arts prompt week 22

I've been posting a few times a day the last few days. I was very productive on Monday and then realized I had to get everything in before deadlines! I was also busy reading my newest book The Boundless Deep by Kate Brailler. I loved this book. I couldn't get enough of it once I was about 2 chapters in. I've been very lucky the last 3 books I've read have been really good.

When I read a book it stays with me. Its usually something I think about during the day while doing other things. The characters sometimes get in my head and become sort of real to me. I love reading books with certain critieria. I love books that are:

  • written by a woman
  • set in either New England, New Orleans, or Florida
  • has to do with Salem witch trials
  • fortune telling
  • Anything written by Alice Hoffman
  • Have great titles like "Water for Elephants"
For this week's journal prompt. ... What are you reading? or just read?

I think its great to make note of these kind of things so in the future you look back and say"oh yea I remember that book." or your kids/family members will see it and maybe read it themselves.

Here's what I came up with. My book "The Boundless Deep" is about a girl from the midwest who has whaling dreams her whole life and is convinced she was a whaling captain. (think Moby Dick). She goes with her friend to Nantucket to stay for the summer to figure out if she's just looney or what.

Great book. I loved it. I drew this whale and whaling ships. I colored them with copics. The background is distress inks. The water spray is acrylic paint. This might be my favorite page in my journal at this point. I didn't have time to scan it in. Can't wait to see what everyone does. Maybe I'll get some book recommendations to boot! Thanks for stopping by!

Also I found a new site called Issuu.com that is SO neat. I made this cool little gadget that is now in my side bar. Go in my sidebar and click on the picture of my heart the art album to get a look through it.

Sketch card and tagged

I made this card with this sketch from Papercrafts blog sketch 3.

I thought it turned otu so pretty. I love using fabric on cards.

I saw this tagged questions on Ecostoryteller's blog and wanted to do them. Great questions. If you want to do the questions from her feel tagged too!

1.When you were a child each band or singer was your favourite?
When I was child my fav band was probably New kids on the block. Yeah I'm that age. lol. I also LOVED L.L Cool J.

2.If you could change your name, what would be the name you would pick?
That would be an easy choice. My name would be Robyn. I've always thought my name should have been that.

3.Mention five things that make you very upset.
a. child abuse
b. cussing and getting really angry around kids
c. law injustice
d. politicians
e. stupidity to care for your own wellbeing

4.What do you do to protect Earth? (name a few things or just one)
I don't use paper towels, I use cloth bags, I try to buy locally or grow my own herbs and tomatoes.

5.Each book would you pick to go with you to other planet if life on Earth was in the end? Ooh hard one. Probably Harry Potter and the Sorceror stone. Logan could read it too. Its one of the books I've read so many times I love it still.

6.Are you terribly afraid of something? Having something happen to my kids

7.Name five people you would love to erase from Earth. No one. I guess 5 serial killers that are here in the states. Just *poof* gone. That'd be good. I had to stop watching shows like Criminal minds because it makes you think there are tons of them hidden away. Makes me jumpy.

8.Each one was the most beautiful moment of your life? Leo's birth. It healed me. I was tortured and mangled and left for dead (emotionally) with Logan's birth and had trouble coming back from that. Leo's was so right. I had my sweet baby and just some pain. No mental sadness. It healed me.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bird Kit Preview!

I have managed to finish another kit. I know, I know when do I sleep right? I'm not sure. I really love how this one turned out. Its like sometimes I know exactly where I want a kit to go and it just comes together.

Here's the preview! Its going on sale in my Etsy on Monday!!

I wasn't able to make much hybrid stuff with the kit because my printer needs new ink. I have yet to go get some. I got it to print out this cool bird's nest I made for this card. The card is based on the sketch from Sketchy Thursday's this week!

I also made this digital layout of a quote I really like. I think I'm going to get it printed out as a magnet soon. OR print it out to be an iron on and iron it onto a canvas bag or something. That'd be neat.

Go check out Lauren's blog for more coolness made with this kit! Thanks for stopping by!

Peary special post

I wanted to do a quick post to show off my card I made for CARDS magazine blog this week. Its challenge was to do a "punny" statement on the card. Here's mine. I included the challenge from Jacksonbelle Embellishments blog and used a neutral color, white and black and green on the card only.

The pears are my hand carved stamps. The letter stamps are from autumn leaves. The sticker letters are BG. I hand stitched with embroidery thread across the top.

Tomorrow is a big reveal. Make sure you come back to see!

Eggs! Thursday!

I made this out of a sketch but now I don't remember which and I didn't finish in time for the challenge so here it is! lol. I'll just post it up for fun.

I forgot to mention over on Sketchy Thursdays there is voting going on for June's GDT spot. I'm one of the finalists again! Yippee. Its always an honor. Especially to be choosen as a finalist two months in a row. If I did traditional scrapbooking I'd probably have a better chance. I want to do traditional scrapbooking, but 12x12 papers are just TOO big. I don't like the size. I feel like the photos are just odd looking on it. I feel constricted with doing 12x12's. I have done a few, but don't share them, because I just don't like them that much. I keep them of course. But I have no reason to be like "look at these~!". Maybe I should try 8x8's?

This morning I actually made coffee. I haven't made coffee for almost a month. I just don't really drink it much when it starts to get hot again. I drink WAY too much in the winter. Good thing I don't live up in the brrr areas like the northeast because I would be caffeinated up all the time! I'm cold if its below 75 degrees.

I'm debating about going to the gym today. I need to go to Lowes to get a refund. I also would love to work on some cards. Maybe 3 or 4. That'd be nice. I really haven't made anything except this week's heart the art prompt (WHICH is TOO cool) I'm so thrilled with it.

I also need to go by Target. I need a printer cartridge BAD. BAD!! My other printer is a piece of garbage that annoys me to no end. Why are printer cartridges so much money??? They are such a rip off! What a racket. I tried to see if mine could be the refillable type. Nope. I have to go and buy the new cartridges. I can't even find the generic brand in my size. *sigh* OH well its still worth it to have a printer that works pretty well. Its my fault for printing out a TON o' stuff. lol.

Well I gotta get going on my day. Thanks for stopping by!

I made another mosaic for this week's Thurs flickr favs.I have a book of mosaic inspiration I made on Inkubook. I'm hoping it came out nice. They aren't cheap, but they are really cool to put together. I got mine on sale for a father's day sale. They might still have it going on. On Inkubook they have it where you can suck off pictures from your flickr!! How cool is that? So it was really easy. I'll share when I get it.

Five things I feel like making

Okay if I had two days and kidless free to do any craftin' I wanted this is what I'd be making..

1. Michelle's camera strap tutorial. She is awesomely cool.

2. I'm really feeling like making my own jersey cotton summer dress from a pattern. Crazy? Yes. I like this pattern, but not sure it would work with jersey.

3. I still have not made these chinese fortune fabric cookies

4. This Chinese lantern with cherry blossoms. I'd want to make 3 of them and a bit different, but still this is so cool!

5. I want to make some mini ezine's for a swap with someone. I think they'd be so much fun! I thought what they did here was so cool for Haiti.

Everything is going good. Just need to get my printer back to working! Checked out last day care yesterday and I think its the one. Still a bit nervous about the money, but God I need the break so much. Its like I'm weighing money against sanity. Sanity is winning.

Today is gym, library, and cooking. I need to make some Thai peanut pork salad and some shrimp and rice. AND maybe if I get adventurous some chicken cheese enchiladas. We'll see.

Have a great day everyone!

bird houses

Tuesday! It means it time to post my Kathy Martin digital doodle project. This week I did a card.

I sponged the background with blue distress ink. Then I colored the houses with copic markers and added bits of white with a uniball signo pen. The title is a SRM sticker. I then spritzed it with green glimmer mist.

Today I'm running to take Logan to the doctors around 1. He's had stomach pains lately. I blame it on his horrible eating habits of barely any protein and veggies. But I could be wrong. So we're going. Then we'll check out the last day care for Leo.

Tonight I hope to watch the Blind Side with Sandra Bullock in it, with hubby snuggled in our warm bed. He'll be eating popcorn. I'll be trying to not. I CAN NOT get my eating under control!! grrr. I am not happy at this weight. It feels so stupid at times that I go to the gym 5 days a week and I can't get my weight where I want because I eat too much. Crazy! Its a simple math. Calories in, Calories out. 10 lbs damn you!

Well I'm going to leave soon so Leo will sleep in the car and I'll read a magazine in bliss while waiting till I have to go get Logan from inside. I figure I might get 20 minutes of silent magazine car reading. Ahh yeah!

Thanks for stopping by!

Swapped

I got so much done yesterday I felt very much on a high. I got Leo's room the way I want it FINALLY. (well the toddler bed is still in there, but pretty much). I cleaned and cleaned some more! It was great.

Last night I also started working on a summer reading list for Logan. I've decided to do some sort of Bingo card with books on it (I'll be making it of course!) that he can read and when he reads every book on a row then he gets a toy. Once he completes the whole card he can have a Wii game. Or something to that extent. I haven't worked it all out completely. He is an amazing reader for 7 so I want to encourage him this summer even more. We all are book lovers here. Hubby and I ALWAYS have a book at hand and are reading. You don't want to know how many bookcases are in this house. lol (sssshhh ...8)

Most of the books are all potty humored fun/gross/boy type chapter books for boys his age. Like Magic Pickle or the Star Wars chapter books. I want him to read The lightening thief with me. I'll probably put that on the card so he HAS to read it with me to get his Wii game. lol. I know he'll like it.

I wanted to share a few pics of some things I sent off in a swap to my blog buddy, Dani. She's on a blog hiatus, but cool none the less.

I had a bird thing going with out meaning to.

Hand drawn painted owl on small 3x3 canvas.

Flamingo tag. I wish I had got a better picture of this! There was also a hand carved personal stamp that said Lou and Stu. I can't find a pic. I do have one. A few other things were included too.
Like this layout turned into a magnet. I love getting magnets made from digital layouts.

I love doing swaps.

Hopefully will get some crafty goodness done today. We'll see. Thanks for stopping by!

Rex

First off I'll share my new digital layout for the current Digi Dares challenge.

I doubt many of you will be surprised, but I will start off with an introduction to our newest furry friend... Another rat named Rex. He's a white masked dumbo rex rat. Yes there is such a thing and long list at that. He's only half rex, but still. He's adorable and very outgoing. So yes.. I have become the crazy rat lady. How many rats exactly do you need to qualify for that? I'm thinking 3 or over. Oops! That'd be me. Here's a new picture of him isn't he adorable?

You know you think he's cute! Its a long story why I got another one, but the jist of it is.. Sheldon my hairless is much older than my baby. Rats need to be with company. I'm afraid Sheldon is not going to live past a year or so then I'd have to get my youngest a buddy then that would be young compared to him then and so on and so. I'd always have one that was younger and one that was older. So I have two young ones and one older one now. They'll always have a buddy. AND he was too cute for words and not easy to come by let me tell ya. He's not a run of the mill snake food kinda rat at ALL! He's what they call "fancy".

The lady I got him from was so nice. I felt bad I couldn't take more from her. She has 14 rats total!! She's trying to find homes for 6 other babies. The rest are hers. She didn't breed these, she saved the half Rex momma not knowing she was preggers.

We ate at the Cajun restaurant over there in Pinellas and it was so good. We spent way too much money and brought a TON of food home. I forgot to get some Zapps potato chips. darn!

Last night my washing machine finally kicked the bucket. I'm looking online for another one today. Money is being spent like crazy up in here. Time to seriously tighten belt and not spend anymore till October or so.

I'm seriously reconsidering doing the triathlon. I just am worried I'm not going to be able to get into the shape I need to be in. I'm not there yet. I know I could if I had the time to do it, but I'm worried about this summer. I can't just go to the gym every day for 2 hours with Logan and Leo. They would terrorize the day care lady and be bored to tears all summer. Thats not cool. Also it isn't cheap. I'd need tri wear, a bike, entrance fee, motel room the night before..etc.. etc.. Hell the bathing suit I want alone is 50 bucks! *sigh*

We'll see. I have to think about it some more.

Trying to figure out what to do today. Made a new blog for just my scrapbook/arty resume type stuff. Check it out if you want. I still have some work to do on it, but for being thrown together this morning I thought it was a good idea. Have a great Sunday!!

Heart the arts prompt week 21

Sometimes you have to look at things and take assestments of how they are going. How is my weight loss journey going? Well eh.. I'm up 12 lbs and can't seem to get it off. One of my resolutions was to stay with in 5 lbs of my goal weight. (having a HARD time doing this, but still trying!)

I also look at so far how I've been doing with the boys. They are good boys. I'm on a new menu plan that includes making them eat what we eat, it hasn't been easy, but the catering to their kid fare has to end sometime. They are getting to the point they'll only eat pizza and chicken nuggets and thats just plain ridiculous.

Thats how I came up with this week's prompt.

Its... Up till Now

Mine was inspired by looking at the year so far. Up till now the year has been great. Have my resolutions been perfect? No, but I'm doing other things I would have never even thought were possible resolutions.

This is the page I made for the prompt.

I painted the pages with acrylic paint. I stamped the butterfly (by TAC) and then colored them in with copic markers. I added some shading with the markers for the journal area. I then drew lines through it. I added the vellum number stickers. I stamped on the pages some with distress inks on the swirl stamp. Pretty right?

I'm excited to see what everyone does with this prompt. Its pretty easy and can be about anything. Parenting so far, job, love, money saving ANYTHING!

I also made this quick page in my journal to have a page with all the colors of my copic markers. I'm really sad to see the new to me copic color challenge blog is going to stop posting for awhile. I'm not as big into the other one. Here's my page so I will never double buy a color. I also think its very pretty to see all the colors and their names. I used to memorize crayon colors when I was little. I need to do this with paints too!
You can click on the picture to see the names better.

Today we're going to a Cajun restaurant about an hour away and then something fun! I don't want to give it away, but I'm getting a new little friend! I will be munching on some boiled crawfish then coming home hopefully with a new buddy and a full belly. Pictures soon!

I am a proud owner of a freezer!

I got my freezer yesterday. I am so thrilled. I cooked like it was already ready to use. Yesterday, I made cheeseburger pasta (which is hamburger meat, pasta, dill relish, ketcup, mustard, cheese, and diced tomatoes. Its very good), shrimp pea rice, and spiced apples. The apples were eh.. They smelled good though.

I haven't made anything really in the last few days artwise. I need to get on it. I still do have a few things to share! I made this digital layout for Scrap that baby current challenge. I LOVE it. I've been trying to scrap these pictures for ages and it just never came out right. Finally my brain and hand/computer worked together.

Most of the pieces are from After five designs create me kit, rainbow from shabby pickle designs.

It seems Fridays are when I post my Thursday flickr favs now. Here's the mosaic I put together for this week. I'm getting quite the collection of these! I have enough for a book now to put together and print out. I think I might do that soon. I read this article on dailydigi that is VERY informative about the different companies.

1. Tequila Sunrise Rose #2, 2. Baby Quilt Front 2, 3. Untitled, 4. typed ginkgo, 5. Crochet Goodness, 6. heirloom tomato galette and a farmers market salad, 7. White Wonder Cake, 8. resize0954, 9. my lunch & my belly

Created with fd's Flickr Toys

I can't believe its Friday already. I need to scan in this week's heart the art prompt that will be going up tomorrow! I also want to take Leo to the jumpy castle place for free play. Deciding to bring my camera or not. Probably not, because I want to actually help and play with him. :)

Its also horribly dark in there and unless you use a blinding flash you get nuthin'. I'm not a big fan of horrible flash pictures. Gym work out, jumpy place, rest time, and later tonight hopefully some craftin'.

I'd like to:
  • make some cards for this CARDS call
  • do the current sketchy tuesday sketch
  • make some embellishments
  • carve 3/4 stamps
  • start work on new birds digital kit
Well thanks for stopping by! Hope you all have a good Friday!

S24Y Sushi

I was able to make a fun hybrid card with my sushi kit the other day for this week's 2S4Y challenge. I might have to work on another card with this sketch because I really like it. So versatile.

Here's my card I made. Simple, but really pretty. I've been making a couple cards lately that can just be mailed in an envelope instead of a package. I need a few.

Today I'm getting my new freezer. I'm very excited. I am planning on organizing it like this magazine article showed. I can't wait. I always want to cook in two batches but don't because I don't have the freezer room. I don't buy as much when things are on sale cause I don't have freezer room. Now I do! Or soon I will. Click on the picture to make it bigger to read.

I'm hoping today that they will deliver the freezer later in the afternoon. I want to go swim laps at the gym today. I really need to get things into high gear for my Triathlon in October. Its always on my mind that I'm not ready. (yet!)

I found a bike on craigslist for 80 bucks that would work. I'm debating about buying it. I would like it, but dang another 80 bucks right now isn't cool. I'll try to wait. I have till October. Something else will come along. If not I'll just buy a cheap bike then.

I need to get a few things done today. Its Thursday already! Thanks for stopping by!

Dino kit is up for sale!

I have my third digital kit up for sale in my Etsy. I can't believe it. I started out this year thinking I'd want to make a digital kit. Just one, but didn't think I'd ever do it. Now I have three! AND I want to start working on the fourth soon.

I made this card with my digital kit for the other Caardvarks sketch this month. Here's the sketch.

The card is clean and simple. I wanted to send it in an envelope to a little boy so I wanted to make it mainly flat. I hand drew the balloons on cardstock and cut them out. I added black wire to the balloons. The rest is all digital.

Today I am also adding some new stamps to my Etsy. I have two new designs. A little chickie, and a new butterfly.

I'm hoping to get this house cleaned up and get things in order today. I can't believe its hump day already and I'm behind! Tomorrow I'm getting my new freezer! I will be cooking away this weekend like a crazy person. Lewis and I want to stock it up for this summer so we don't have to cook much. I can't wait. Thanks for stopping by!

Fields of flowers and Tuesday afternoons.

Tuesday means another Kathy Martin's digital doodle. This week was fun. I really liked the cuteness of the doodle. This is what I made. The pictures are all from New Years when Lewis and I went to Sarasota's botanical gardens. That was such a lovely trip. I wish we could do it again tomorrow. I really liked Sarasota. I wouldn't mind living there. This doodle works great on digital pages. Its very cute.

Yesterday the guy came out to fix our garage door. The spring broke and the teeth on the motor needed to be replaced. It wasn't TOO costly, but still more money. We all know how that goes. I did find out I got in A in Tort law. Two A's this semester not too shabby.

I changed my classes for next semester. In the fall I'll be taking painting 1 and Art History 1. I'm so excited!

I have been looking for things for my new rat cage and making things too. Or looking for things to make. Here's what the cage looks like at this point. I made the ladder covers and the blankets for them to sleep on.

Here are some of the things on Etsy that I think are WAY too adorable and I might have to break down and get a few of these things because I am sick. haha

They will give you a laugh at very least.
Click on each picture to go to their Etsy page if you want to buy or see how much they are. Or to see what other cute stuff the sellers have for sale.

How cute are these? The Ratoob thing that is a rat carrier around your neck is hilarious and kinda useful. The hoodie cracks me up. Well I gotta go! Have a great Tuesday.

New Dino kit preview and Caardvark card!

I finally finished another digital kit. This one is going on sale on Wednesday. This is a little preview. It turned out so cute. It comes with the 3 dino stickers with and without shadow. 3 journal boxes, 3 buttons, 8 papers, 2 word art, and one yellow glowing alphabet. I hand drew the dinosaurs and they are all my design.

It will be in my Etsy on Wednesday with my other kits that are for sale. This one is a big kit and will be downloadable.

Caardvarks has a current challenge with two sketches. This is the sketch I used.

I made this card with my kit and some BG paper for a very cool hybrid card with this sketch. The sentiment is SRM sticker.

I also made this digital layout with some pictures from DinoWorld here in Florida that we went to with Logan's class last year. I love this kit. :)

Go check out Lauren's blog for a fun card she made with the kit too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Copic challenge blog!

I didn't even know there was a copic challenge blog till I found it via Jen's blog. How cool is that? It gets me to make sure to use my copics that I spent WAY too much money on and enables me to buy more colors that they totally make me drool over on their blog. Here' is this week's color challenge. I didn't have all these colors so I used what I had. Here's my card.

Its a card for my mom to give to my cousin for her wedding coming up. Its their intials in white R & L. I thought it turned out really pretty. Kind of clean and simple for me, but pretty.

This weekend Lewis and I made the rats a new cage! This one is totally cool and made from a old bookcase of Logan's. I love it. We had trouble with the holes a bit, but otherwise too cool. I'm making stuff for inside it as we speak.

I'll post a finished pic in the next couple days. Here's what it looks like now.

Gotta go work on stuff then on lunch. I'm hoping to carve some stamps tonight or draw some new designs. I don't have bankruptcy law to draw stamp designs in anymore!! Good and bad that its over right? Also got to check if my Tort law professor finally posted our grades or not. GRR.. Thanks for stopping by!

Heart the arts prompt week 20

Another week. Only one more to go till we're half way through the year!! I can't believe it. Early on this week when I made this page I was having a bit of a conflict of taking other people's feelings into consideration. I was completely focused on what I wanted to do. I've realized after making this page that I felt better about things. I held back my feelings this time for someone else.

So this week's prompt is... Hold Back

What do you need to hold back? The urge to do something? Say something? Is someone holding you back?

Here's my page. I did a scrap paper collage then covered it in gesso. Then I did a sharpie pen drawing on the page. I used some of my distress inks to color it then that smudged it a bit. I then painted over it with some acrylic paints and I drew on it a bit with my uniball signo white pen. The title is drawn on stickers.

This week I also made this oil pastel drawing of a little finch. It turned out so cute.

This might make its way into being some sort of bird digital kit. I seem to be loving the birdies lately.

Last nights date night was fun. We went to our favorite Indian restaurant. It was delish. I had something new. It was a shrimp tikka masala type thing. Yum.
We got all the stuff I need to make another rat cage for the garage. Which is going to be way cool.

I finished my new digital dinosaur kit this morning. I'm hoping to have it up for sale by next Saturday. Its so cute! Sneak peak sometime this week!

Thanks for stopping by!
