The lovebugs are a comin' its almost September!

Painting class yesterday went well. We didn't do much. Just gesso'd our papers. The teacher showed us some of her work. She does some neat hybrid digital/oil/acrylic work that looks interesting. Tomorrow we'll be cutting papers and doing some color theories. I got a locker so I wont' be schlepping my stuff back and forth! Yeah!

Well its Tuesday. I can't forget to show you this week's digital doodles by Kathy Martin. This week was a set of doodles and sentiments for Halloween.

I made little treat bags.

I also wanted to share my digital calendar page for August! 3 apples on the page. I think that might be a record that should not be broken. Went a little crazy with those apples.

Ooh just remembered! I'm getting NCIS Los Angeles Season one Disc one from Netflix in the mail today. I'm stocked. I do love myself some L.L. Cool J. I haven't seen the show yet. As soon as I saw he was in it though I wanted to watch it. I never watch tv anymore. I just wait till things are on dvd and get them on dvd and watch them when I have time. I'll be watching one or two episodes tonight!

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by.

Mondays come too quick

I love getting happy mail. Especially unexpected happy mail. Thanks to Jana I got compeletely unexpected something in the mail yesterday. I got a gorgeous card and a felt little mini book in the mail. Look! Thank you so much Jana! I love them! The book is so cool. I've been meaning to make one for ages. Its neat to see one already made. Its so neat.

Today starts art school week #2! I have more stuff to drag in with me than you'd ever believe. I have 6 bags I'm dragging out the door with me. One bag for Leo for daycare, Logan's backpack, 2 bags for art painting, one bag for art history with my book and stuff, my lunch stuff, my gym bag, and I think that is it. lol

I made a quick flickr fav picture mosaic of all my fav pictures on flickr. I haven't done that for a long time. I just got overwhelmed doing it weekly.

1. They want owls..., 2. Sammy, 3. Halloween Matchbox Back, 4. Birds (Raven and Sea-gull) by Dark SSvetik, 5. pocket pal dresses!, 6. Zebra finch - Postcards from the Gulf, 7. Bottle Caps (unfinished), 8. Syko at the Forma fair 2010, 9. Little Folks, A Magazine for the young, copyright 1870s

Bought the wrong size drawing board, not happy about this. It doesn't fit in my case. Going to buy right size today. Not cool. But can be fixed

I made this for a challenge on afterfive designs. I love that they have if you do so many layouts you earn points etc.. towards gift certificates towards their store. Hello I always am in need of more digi kits, even if I do make my own. I love having more. I just love everyone's different styles and different looks. I just went and looked. I have 500 kits on my external hard drive in my digital kits file. lol. Thats separate from where I keep what I make. Thats just what I buy.
Well I should say some of it is free or gift with purchase or on sale for a very good price I'm sure. :)

In the layout above I used recreation 23 kit (collab), where dreams begin kit by createwings, and some other mix match pieces all from afterfivedesigns.com site.

Today we are going to have some fun then start the new school week again! I hope I can get it all done again this week again. Going to go work on some stuff and run with the huskies!

Heart the arts prompt week 35

Saturdays come, Saturdays go. All week I was thinking mainly of something kinda morbid. Maybe its cause Halloween is just around the corner. Maybe its all the decorations that have popped up already and enticed my eyeballs. Who knows. But I've been thinking about death. Where you go. What life is. What is living. How to live. The whole caboot

I found this quote by Anais Nin and boom this journal page came to me.

So thats what this week's prompt is... death.

Do you feel death is dark? Do you fear death? Do you not worry about death because you believe in heaven? or reincarnation? Do you just live deeply now so you don't fear death? Are you scared to death of death? Anything everything feel the word go where you want to with it. Its your journal page.

Here's mine.

The raven and moon were from vintage papers. The backgrounds I drew freehand really quickly. The tree is from my Green Day Eco digi 99 cent mini kit. I used watercolor paints on the page. Then I traced over it with a micron pen.

I was pleased to find a glass place yesterday here in my town to purchase a piece of glass for my art class that is 11x14, quarter inch glass to use as a palette for my painting class. My art painting teacher is quite specific. I have to have it cut and sides sanded. It is a special order. I'm hoping it'll be done by Monday. I actually ordered two, because well its glass. I know me. I have something I have to carry around thats glass. Hello its so going to break. At least I have a fighting chance if I have two that I won't break them.

If I don't break them, then I'll use the other at home when I paint. I like the idea anyways. glass does work well as a palette.

Today I have to go up in my attic and find my big portfolio artist bag I stashed up there a few months ago. I didn't figure I'd need it. Well I do! I also need to take the huskies running today or go to the gym. I haven't decided which.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I need to stop eating ice cream completely.

Wow you get back into a routine and your week flies by. I have so much more to do this week before Sunday. We'll see what I get done. I did get this beauty done for 2s4y this week!

Here's the sketch.

Here is what I came up with.

I used BG papers, vintage papers, thickers, cosmo cricket letter stickers, bG sticker boarder, and lots of stitching.
Tomorrow is a new Heart the arts journal prompt! Make sure you stop on by! Thanks for looking!

I should be heading out the door to take my son to second grade and I'm finishing this up real quick first.

Recap of yesterday:

Art History:

Teacher: blond, funny nice great dresser I think I'm going to like her!
Class: Mix of all different sorts of people but EVERYONE is an art major! Love it!! How cool!
Work: Lots of it. Every week a summary typed page of the reading is due and a 8 pg paper will be due in about hmm 7 weeks or so. This class is not going to be cake. Its going to make my paralegal classes look like snoozevilles.

Painting 1:

Teacher: brunette, short, soccer mom looking, nice looking, immediately we did not communicate well. I think I am already on her bad side.
Class: ALL are 18 years old except one girl who is not officially registered in the class yet. She looked around my age. I hope she registers into the class or I will be the oldest in the class. There are like 10 of us. Maybe.
Work: going to be challenging. Doing oil painting which I'm excited about. Very expensive, but never worked with. I'm thrilled and think it will be neat. Worried because teacher expressed we should go up there and work on our work an extra 9 hours a week. I can't go up there an extra 9 hours a week!!! urgh I'm worrying about this later. We'll see how this works out. I'm in it now.

I went to a new art store in Tampa to get my art supplies for the class. It was a neat store I'd never been to before. I wish I had more time just to float around in it and look around.

Here's what I was greeted with in the mail when I got home. Lauren sent me some lovely swap stuff which was so cool. She sent me my little crochet'd grim reaper who is darling and two art o ' matic pieces from D.C she got me and a cool book she found in the dollar section she thought I'd like.

The year of the tiger post card she made is AWESOME and I loved so she sent it to me. I love it still. Thank you Lauren!! Best present ever to come home to after my first day of school.

Art Class Day 1 --2010

I'm on my way to my first day of art classes today. Well I've taken art classes before, but never as an art major. I'm an art major now! My first day. Very exciting. Little concerned about what I'm going to end up drinking at school since I don't drink soda anymore. I guess I'm going to have to hunt up some iced tea in some vending machines somewhere. I haven't drank soda in over a month can you believe that? I can't.

Well here I am in all my nerdy glory on my way to school today. I had to take a first day of school pic for all of you. I figured you'd appreciate it. :)

More crafty lovelies later. Love ya!

Watched Hot Tub Time Machine with hubby last night, God I love John Cusack.

First day for Logan has came and went. I actually manged to get up to my school and get a new parking pass for the semester. Something my school requires every semester. (what a pain in the patootie!) But its done! yippee!

I'm ready for Wednesday! I have my book. I know where my classes are. Logan is in his groove. I'm going to the gym today with Leo and then to the library. Computer diet is going well.

Today is Tuesday so that means Kathy's digital doodle day!

Here digital doodles this week is a set of sentiments. We were to make set of cards. Here are mine. I used her digital doodles from other kits with the sentiments. You can find them here.

Off to get things done! Have a great Tuesday!

Getting computer skinny

I'm going to miss summer days. I had a good time this summer. I'm realizing I'm going to need to reel in a few things and change things up.

I am putting myself on a computer diet. I've decided I'm spending way too much time on the computer. I just am. Its stressing me out and taking away from my family. So I'm going to still do what I do, but just in a small amount of time. What falls away, falls away. Really I only need to read the blogs I really love and my friends. I don't need to read all the other stuff. I don't need to check my email more than once a day. I have to go now actually.

I wanted to share this new digital layout I did last night.

Today I have a completely free day. Both boys will be in school. I have to go up to my school and see where my class is. I have lots to do. I'll be back on late tonight after Leo is in bed. Wow that will be different. Only 2 hours a day. Lets see if I can do it.

Love you all!

Most of the items that made this digital layout are from that charity kit on afterfive designs called hands across the gulf.

Chicken salad with dill relish and garlic is my fav

I'm sweating all over my computer. Just ran with the huskies again. 2 miles. Not bad. I need to map out another route that is 1.5 miles each way so that when I do each dog, it'll be a 1.5 miles instead of just a mile so then I'll end up doing 3 miles total. I'm a planner what can I say? I feel good though. Got my 5x workouts in this week. No more slacking. Summer's over! Next summer this will not happen! I will have to figure something out, but it will not!

I did do another card the other day. Its for the Cardabilities challenge blog. Here's the sketch.

Here is the card I made. It has my hand carved koi fish flag on it. The pp is BG, the letter stickers American crafts and K& company for the happiness one. I love how it turned out.

Tomorrow school starts for Logan. I can't believe its already here. I'm ready, but I'm not. School starts for me on Wednesday. I'll officially be an art major. Exciting! Well off to fix lunch for the little ones. Have a relaxing Sunday!

Heart the arts prompt week 34

I realized this week that I have lots of dreams. I had a bit of a little let down when I realized I wouldn't be able to do the triathlon this year. There just is no way. It during a horrible month. (October) I still haven't gotten a bike. I am still not in the physical condition I would like for 2 months from now to compete, in something like that. It bummed me out.

I have lots of dreams. They mess around my mind and intermix. Sometimes they mesh together okay. Sometimes they get in the way of each other. Its a bummer. I mean you can't do EVERYTHING ya know? But the great thing about dreams are there is no time frame on them as long as you are still living ya know?

Like I saw this wonderful cruise online that is 42 days for 5,000 dollars that goes around all of Europe from Tampa and ends up in Holland. Can you imagine?? Yeah.. but hmmm.. time, money, and oh yeah I have kids so that's a no go. But its a wonderful dream. It stops EVERYWHERE I would want to go. Go check it out. Just imagine. Just for a second that you have the time and money and wouldn't mind being with out internet for 42 days. lol

Here's where the cruise goes if you don't want to click the link. Can you imagine??

So this is where this week's prompt came from.

This week's prompt is... Dreams

What are your dreams? Do you have tons of them? Just one? The sky is the limit. Lets see them on your art journal pages.

Here's my page.

My hubby found online how to fix something on my car for me and is my hero! Silly check engine light for oil changes hmpt!

I worked on some cards today. I have some more cards I need to work on, but I got this one done just in time for the cut off tomorrow. Its for 2S4Y sketch this week. Here's the sketch.

Here's my card I made.. I used one of my hand carved stamps. My whale. Most of the pp is BG. And the tag on it is splattered in lots of distress ink and tattered angels ink. I love this card. I was kind of inspired by the whole oil sea spill in the gulf right now. I am still so upset about how it is being handled and worried about our sealife.

I did recently purchase this digital kit if you were looking for something charitable and cute, on afterfivedesigns.com they have a MEGA kit called hands across the gulf that the proceeds are going to the National Wildlife Federation. The kit is only 10 dollars. Its a monster and will take a while to download, but is awesomely cool. I'm working on downloading mine I bought, but I will make some cool things with it soon!

Last but not least, Amy Tsuruta had a little challenge thrown out there to show off your very first card you blogged about on your blog. Now... This is embarrassing truly. lol. I wasn't a card maker when I started this blog. I did lots of other things. I've been doing this blog off and on since 2006.

Anyways.. Enough excuses! Here's the card! Its got my hand carved shell stamps on it and old OLD BG on it. :)

There ya go. Fun stuff for all. I have to get going on my to do list. Got lots to do, and very little time. Have a great weekend everyone. New Heart the Arts journal prompt up tomorrow!!

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

We're half way through August what?

I spent the bulk of my day today listing and fixing up my Etsy with all my new stamps and a bunch of redone pictures of stamps I already had done. I have it completely filled and up to date. Its filled to the brim. It has the highest listings in it that it ever has! I currently have 56 items for sale! Thats awesome. Usually I keep around 32 or so in there at any given time. I'm very impressed with myself.

As for the new Halloween stamps? Here let me show you!

Today my parents are coming over and later on I'm taking Logan to check out his 2nd grade class for orientation. Right now I need to get my butt in gear and get the house straighted up before they get here. I have little hand carving stamp shavings EVERYWHERE! I've been carving stamps for days with no break and just letting the shavings fall where they may. I try to scoop up some, but its messy business.

Oh! Yes I also wanted to tell you that at catscrap.com they are having their 4th birthday sale everything is 30% off , but today (Thursday) their kits are 40% off. They have some cool cool digital stuff like this kit by Julia Makotinsky! She is by far my favorite digital designer. I *heart* her stuff. I have most of it. She combines her kits with fun painted elements and hand drawn items. Lovely.

Well off to buy a couple things *cough cough online* then clean. :) Have a great Thursday!

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

I keep looking at the pug rescue website. I need to stop. I can't get another dog!

School days again. Our school doesn't start for another week, but dang it feels like its already in full swing here. I'm preparing. I am trying to think up lunch meals for the pickiest 7 year old eater on the planet. I have NO idea still what to put in his lunches.

This week for Kathy Martin's Digital doodles she sent us out school themed ones. Here's what I made with them.

First off I made a cute first day of school digital layout. This is from Logan's first day of school last year I never scrapped.

I also made some little hand made notes to put in Logan's lunches for when school starts. I love writing him notes and adding them in. Now that he can read them so well its fun. He enjoys it too.

I just colored the pencils in on photoshop printed them out very small and cut them out and glued them to these little tags I found in the dollar section at Target. Cute eh?

Tonight it's cheeseburger pasta that I already made, and just need to heat up. Very glad about that. I think I'm going to watch some Veronica Mars on Netflix and try to carve a few stamps if the boys "allow" that. Have a great Tuesday!

Sunday, August 15, 2010

I broke my mouse and now it doesn't scroll down the page. How pitful.

Last minute. Gotta blog at night 8:30 on a Sunday because Lauren informed me via her blog of a new challenge blog I didn't know of, and well... it just kinda kicked me into getting into doing the challenge last minute too! I mean why not?

Now I did this in like a half an hour. I love how it turned out. Great little tag. The theme was wings!

The blog is called Simon Says Stamp. They'll be a new challenge tomorrow (Monday).

Here's what I came up with.

I never did find my book "To Kill a Mockingbird" so I bought a new copy from Walmart. A little under 6 bucks for the paperback and it has a pretty illustration on the front. As soon as I finish my current book, I will be starting it. I love rereading books, but sometimes I feel guilty. Like I should only read books I haven't read, to fully get through as many as I can blah, blah blah. But with this one, you can't feel guilty. Its freaking "To kill a Mockingbird"!

Now when I when I reread Twilight for the tenth time ....there's a little more guilt that I'm missing out on some intellectual time. lol In the end though, who cares right? Reading is supposed to be fun! I read what I like and when I like or I'd be miserable. I'll just have to get through "War and Peace" in another life.

Thanks for stopping by!

I need to cook a ton of food to refill my freezer

I just went running with the huskies. Separately of course, because otherwise I would be the sled, and in Florida there isn't any snow. The concrete would feel mighty rough on my belly.

It was really nice. I need to do that every Sunday I can. Sunday's are the only day I can't go to the gym easily. They don't have childcare on that day. Usually I just take the day off, but I'd really like to kick things in high gear since I want to get this weight off before winter. I resolve to not have muffin top in my jeans. My jeans are tiny! At the moment I am about 12 lbs from tiny!

I have been thinking long and hard about Elsie's Simple 4 goals to do before the end of the year. I like this mind thought. I think I've finally come up with mine.

The current Caardvarks challenge is to make a card or tag Christmas themed. Well hello?? I couldn't pass that up. I am trying to do every Caardvark challenge this year. Here it is!

I used distress inks on the tag, The owl is one of my hand carved stamps that I colored with copic markers, The tree branch is also one of my hand carved stamps. I cut out the holly out of colored pp. The white snowflakes are rubons.

Last night, Lewis made us a shrimp boil. I warn you now. Look at the picture below you will instantly be hungry. lol. This is why I have to run with huskies and go to the gym as much as possible!

Now I must look at the Sunday paper ads. Then eat some lunch. Hope everyone's weekend was lovely.

Heart the arts prompt week 33

I was very happy to get in the mail yesterday, my brand new watercolor page moleskine. I only have a few pages left in my current art journal. I plan on trying to find the time to scan all the pages properly and add them to the very neat interactive flip through book you can look through that is on the side bar of my blog. Its the little black book that says, "Heart the art book. Look through me".

I'm going to have to decide what to do with the cover of the new journal. I always enjoy doing arty stuff. I always have. This is how I came up with this week's prompt. I started wondering about how I've always loved art. Since I was teeny. How if I had been encouraged to always be an artist and do arty things, when I got older would I have stuck with it more? Would I have disliked it at this point? Rebelled? Stayed with it stronger? Been better than I am? I wonder.

So thats what this week's prompt is.... Wonder.

What do you wonder? Wonder what your hair would look like bright pink? Do you wonder what that old best friend is doing now or where your favorite pair of jeans are? Whatever. It doesn't matter. Just do an arty journal page about what you wonder.

Here's my page for the week.

I took some vintage papers and glued them down. Then I took some green acrylic paint and painted over them. I then took some gesso and made a white area in the middle and let it dry. Then I drew the girl. I then colored her with some Inktense colored pencils and painted her. I wrote out wonder with the pencils and then painted over it with water. I then out line and did my journaling.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Add all your pages to the flickr group! We'd love to see. Remember you don't have to do them in order. Just do them how you'd like. We'd love to see them.

Thursday, August 12, 2010

I wish I could find a big colorful crocheted afghan to put in the backseat of my car to protect the fabric from the little ones.

Oh my goodness the working that is getting done up in here! I'm so proud of myself. I've been doing lots of digital and stamp work trying to get my Etsy back up to par, where it should be. I have an exciting new product in my Etsy. It goes along with one of my digital kits. Kinda like an add on, but can be totally used on its own. I made a set of dino digital stamps. For the low price of 99 cents! Like I said. I want to get at least 10 items in my Etsy that are 99 cents. I think that would be a good starting point. Some fun cheap items that people can buy and not feel guilty about right? I mean in times like these we all have to watch how much we spend!

Here's my new dino stamps. Best thing about them, your copics will love them and they take up no storage room.

I tried my hardest to carve stamps yesterday and I kept messing them up at the last possible moment. Worst thing about carving stamps. You can almost be done with one, have your hand move just the wrong way for a millisecond and boom the whole piece is ruined. You can salvage the block to make something else, but what you had been making most likely is garbage. Its a pain. Much easier in photoshop to hit ctrl+z.

I made this oil pastel drawing yesterday while making dinner. I actually would go back and forth while cooking and mess with this. How is that for weird? It was fun. I love it.

Next up for my creativeness is Halloween. I've been drawing out new stamp designs. I drew 3 new Halloween stamp designs. I'm very excited to carve them out when I have a less shaky hand day. AND I have a tag waiting to be photographed.

Feeling the creative flow.
Really in a good place.
Got lots more swimming around in my head.
Thanks for stopping by!

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

If I had a pencil sitting next to me I'd be making a list.

I'm excited to say that I have another digital kit out! This one is another mini kit. I want to make a couple digital kits and stamps that will go in my shop as 99 cent items. So here it is! My first digital mini kit that is only 99 cents! A steal! I've already got it and my new stamps up on my Etsy.

I decided no better way to use it than on this week's 2S4Y challenge. I loved the sketch. Here it is.

Here's the card I made with the cool sketch and my digital kit. I used the panda earth image, some Basic Grey and other fun stuff I found lying around on my art desk. The sentiment is a SRM sticker.

Today is waiting for the air conditioning guy to clean the air conditioner. I am hoping to finish off a tag or card for Caardvarks current challenge. Maybe scan in the new oil pastel drawing I did yesterday. Take some pictures. Cook something healthy? I have a big beef roast sitting in my frig ready to be thrown in the crock pot. Don't you love using the crock pot in the summer? There is nothing worse than a heated up house after using the oven.

Thanks for stopping by!

Logan wants to face off with Voldemort, if they let you do that at Universal

More than anything today I feel like going to the library. I am not sure when I'm going to be able to fit this in. I'm going to go get on a bike and do a spin class that I'm afraid might hurt me for the rest of the day. (I haven't done a spin class in over a month) I'm going to go meet up with a friend for half a the day at a park with our older boys and then go to lunch.

I really would like to do some atcs for this site. How cool is this new blog? Simply Atc

I finished an illustration for Illustration Friday's theme this week of "Caged". Its digital, but I wanted it to look more pen and ink. I've been reading a book about Edward Gorey. It kinda inspired me a bit on this piece.

Plan for today: ( I really need to start doing this digitally)

drop Leo off at daycare
gym spin class
meet up with friend
lunch
paint/draw/create
make dinner (not sure what....I got nothing! I might have to stop at the grocery)
Another summer day over.

Thanks for stopping by!

Right Eyeball= Red, Dang allergies.

Yesterday was a full out art day. I ran a couple errands of returning things. Do you do that? Where you'll accumulate about 4 things or more that need to go to different stores to be returned? I had to return items to Target, Home Depot, and Bells. Logan needed a hair cut for school.

We managed to get all of this done then mosey on into Joann's. Since I had returned said things and I had a coupon, I got a new set of acrylic paints to jazz up my paint supplies. I will be after all be taking a painting class this semester. 48 batch lovely!

I got stuff done this week for the blog. Two cards, and an illustration, some scanning, etc. It was a good day. I even tried my tea with some cream. Not too bad. I kinda liked it.

Being Tuesday I wanted to share my card I made with Kathy Martin's new digital doodle for the week. Its a party hat. You can find all her digital doodles on 2peas.

Supplies: Blue pp, pear sticker, green pp, = Basic Grey, blue/green letter stickers= K&Company, vintage written papers colored with alcohol inks, pink stickers=KI memories.

Plan for today:

Gym
Lunch
Cooking Mexican Meatloaf (with undecided sides as of yet)
calling and scheduling air conditioning cleaning. :( Boring!

Nothing exciting. But I'm trying to relish in the fact that I only have a few more weeks of not having to be anywhere at any specific time. I don't have to set an alarm for the next few weeks. Soon that will be a changing. Mornings will consist of me be rushed and worried about one or all three of us being late for school. Or at least will consist of me having to make sure everyone eats breakfast. Now I just bring it along and don't really worry about it.

Summer slow down!

Blog you are going to look different very soon, when time is on my side.

I think I need to reorganize my creative life. Somehow I need to jump start myself in some way. I'm not feeling how I've got things set up or how I've been doing things lately. Even my idea's haven't been as "electric" to me as of late. I think I need to start some sort of operation. An art operation. I need to play more with my art supplies. Do you know I have fabric crayons I haven't used yet? I know! I need to dig deep with what I have, and actually try out new things.

I want to spread out and MESS up stuff. I feel kinda confined. I feel like I have such limited time and space. (haha thats cause I do) But this all can be changed technically. There is always a way. I realized that.

I'm planning in my head that I want to start painting things in larger scale. I think I need to set up my large fold out table on my back screened in patio. Yes it'll be an eye sore. Yes it'll be in the way. But oh well. I need room! I'm ready to start spreading out. Making a mess. I need to.

So get ready. I need to start trying to push myself out of my comfort zone a little. Any suggestions on what you do to kick jump your creative buttons or your favorite way to make a mess lets hear it. I love to hear any suggestions.

For fun tonight I made a new digital layout with the pencil lines sketch. Here's the sketch.

And here's what I came up with. I thought it was fun to make with some of the boys and my "bored" self portrait pics. Thanks for stopping by!
