I forgot my wallet today at Walmart and realized it at the checkout line

I found the blog City Crafter Challenge blog, via Lauren. She's going to be on their new DT team for their monthly kits called pixie dust paperie. Very cool. The current challenge is to make a card with flowers and at least some lace or doily. This is what I made with one of my lily flower hand carved stamps.

I've been working more in my classes. Gosh they are keeping me busy. They really are like 3x as much work as my old "paralegal" classes had me do. I'm having trouble keeping up with everything.

Monday, I went into class and we did our critique's of everyone's work. Pretty much the consensus of my work was it was unfinished. Everyone wanted me to do more contrast and more work on it. Now this annoyed me, because of the time constraint. The teacher of course made this painting now not due till the next painting is due, so we can all still work on them more. ARGH!

I get it. I do. Mine did need more work. I just wish she would realize if you want that kind of work then have us do LESS paintings or SMALLER paintings!!! My current painting now has 10 hours worth of work in it. It is still not done. I wanted to show you a newer photo of it, but my phone was going dead when I finished on Monday afternoon.

I put the boys in aftercare so I could go back later on Monday and work on my painting during open studio time.

Tomorrow I hope to finish it up during class and then start my sketch of painting two. I'm hoping to work on it this weekend at home. This is the artist painting I've chosen to appropriate my next piece after.

I will keep you posted! Thanks for stopping by.

I want to get some more paint brushes

Another Monday. Off to school I go. I haven't been making much. I think all my creative energy is being used up with my painting class. Its so stressful trying to get something done in the time frame she wants and not constantly feel behind. It'd be better to have less paintings to do or have us do smaller paintings. One or the other. I think I have a better plan for this one, but we'll see how it goes. I start painting number 2 today.

I just put a pot roast in the crock pot to be ready for tonight.

This weekend I mostly read. I finished this book.

I read it in 2 days! It was so good. I wasn't thrilled with the ending, but I can except it for what it is. The whole book is about a guy who is reincarnated and so is his love. He can remember all his past lives, and he can recognize souls in their new bodies. But his love does not remember from life to new life. Its SO good. I believe in reincarnation and souls moving on like this, so it was really neat to read. Here's the book on Amazon.

I hope to do some more crafting tomorrow. At least a card or two.

Thanks for stopping by!

Heart the arts prompt week 39

I'm posting late today. Typically I have this ready to post early Saturdays, but today I had to go work on my painting for painting class. Its due on Monday. We totally have not had enough time to do what she wants done for these paintings.

I did have the chance to do this oil pastel drawing for this week's Heart the art prompt. I've been big into the fact that fall is finally here. I'm thinking about decorating and leaves. I'm thinking of how I kinda wish I was still up north and getting cool weather. I miss seeing the leaves on the trees change. I haven't seen it for almost 20 years, but that was my childhood.

So this week's prompt is ... Autumn.

I figure since I did Summer as a prompt, we have to have Autumn too! Can't wait to see everyone's pages.

Here's mine.

I also wanted to show you photos of my still life at school I've been working on. Here's a picture of the still life we had to work with.

This is my painting I've done from it. Its at what I could finish today. There's alot more I could do with it, but I've run out of time. This is 4 layers worth of work. Oil painting on 140lb paper that has been gesso'd many many times. Its very thick. It needs more contrast. If I had two more hours to work on it, it might be more "done". But like I said, this is what it will be turned in as on Monday. We just didn't have enough time. This is about 8 hours worth of work.
Its a 20x20 image.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope to post more this coming week. I've just been so busy my life is making blogging difficult.

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

I'm almost out of dog food. Must go get some tomorrow.

I've been busy and not busy at all. How that happens I don't know. I'm way behind on my blogs I read. I'm way behind on my still life in painting class. The teacher decided on Monday to have us critic each others paintings instead of paint for the first hour. This of course about made me lose my mind. I mean I have to paint! I have to get this thing done! Its due Monday. I was caught up and looking good on time, but now because of that I'm behind again. I'm going to have to go in again on Saturday to finish it. Annoying. I wish she had given us one more day to get it turned in then if she was going to do that.

I did take pictures of the still life, but haven't taken any of my actual painting yet. I will when its done.

Today I made a card for 2s4y. Here's the sketch.

Here's my card. I used my Chinese lantern hand carved stamp on it. Its so pretty.

Tomorrow is school again. I have to work hard in painting. I have an hour and half to book through and catch up. We'll see if its possible..

I'm currently on the hunt to get Logan a keyboard off craigslist so that he can practice piano. I'm hoping to get one tomorrow or the next day. I want to make sure he really likes it before investing alot of money into a real piano or anything else.

I took 4 years of piano lessons when I was little. I hated it. lol. But I loved it at first. My parents went and bought me a piano then because of that I had to do the lessons whether I wanted to or not. For 4 years!~ Finally my piano teacher told my mom that I obviously did not want to learn the piano, but if she did she would teach her. haha Thats when I was finally let off the hook. Poor mom. She did want me to be a beautiful piano player. I never was.

My mom laughed her butt off when I told her Logan wanted to take lessons. She says its my karma. lol. I can't blame her. Its totally true. Logan is my little mini me. I hope he does like it more than I did.

OH! Yes and I have been picked as a finalist for October GDT on Sketchy Thursdays. Go vote for your fav. Doesn't have to be me. Just pick your fav!
Thanks for stopping by! Gotta get the boys ready for bed.

I wish I could go running with the huskies today.

I am wanting this week to fly by. FLY sucker. Go! I'm already ready for another weekend. Yesterday laundry got accomplished. Not much else. Going to go work on my painting today at class. Its a still life. I should take pictures of it and the still life today. Its coming along. Its nothing I'll frame and hang up in my house, but its good practice.

I did make this digital layout last night with the new Sketchy Thursday sketch. I wanted to document these photos. We had such a blast over Labor Day weekend camping.

Here's the layout.

I need to go pack lunches for myself and Logan. We will be leaving a little bit early today so that I can return the class hamster. Thanks for stopping by! Maybe I'll get some coffee on the way out since I'll be early today. :) Gosh I love Dunkin Donuts coffee. Why does coffee always taste better when someone else makes it?

Sunday, September 19, 2010

We have the school hamster staying with us this weekend.

We have nothing planned for today. Not one thing. I can't think of one thing that I'd like to do. I just need to fold like 5 tons of laundry and get ready for this week of school. But that sounds kinda boring. I did make a card yesterday. I was going with the sketch from Caardvarks, but I went a total different route I think. Not much like the original sketch.

Here's the sketch.

Here's the Halloween card I made. What am I ever going to do with all these Halloween cards? God I love em'.

At 1:00 my Dallas game is on. I'll be watching that. I'm doing good on Fantasy Football this week. Yesterday all my picks for college teams boomed. I do love myself some football.

Thanks for stopping by.

Heart the arts prompt week 38

This week I had a hard time at school. On Monday I could not draw to save my life. I had a hard time not feeling like a failure from one day. It was an emotional day. I realized though that I needed to look past all that and focus on the positive. It was one day. I had a bad day. I'm doing what I love.

I realized I needed to just move on with looking past the bad day I was dwelling in and look forward to the next time I could paint.

So that's where this week's prompt came from. This week's prompt is... positive

How do you keep positive? What does it mean to you to be positive? Anything the word brings to mind for you.

Here's my page.

I went and worked on my painting today since I was behind. Monday truly put me behind in what I needed to get done and that made me stress out. I got today to catch up. Thats why this is being posted a bit late in the day.

I'll share my painting from class when its done. Thanks for stopping by!

I am in love with this art, Golly Bard. Her work is amazing. I WANT this painting so bad. It is a shame I can not afford such loveliness at this time.

I'm obsessed with this seller's palmeras' sea glass jewelry. Again.. I seem to finding things out of my price range on Etsy. This is my favorite of hers. What a beautiful bracelet.

I can't wait to do cermaics next semester in school. I would love to make things half as gorgeous as OneClaybead on Etsy. I'm in love with this bowl.

I also love this designer, Treehouse28 on Etsy's clothes. I'm obsessed. I first saw them on Emily Falconbridge's blog and haven't got them off my mind since. This is the shirt I want.
Its very cute.

My new favorite blog is one I found via an article on yahoo.com. Its a girl who's doing and Julia/Julie like project, but with clothes! She's making old thrift store clothes new. One dress a day! I love it! Her blog is called.. New dress a day.

Heart the arts prompt week 37

Every week goes by I wonder.. What should I make a page about? What should I do about this? What should I do about that? Lately I've had one question nagging at me that my mind knows the answer to, and my heart feels differently about. I starting thinking about all the questions I ask myself. Oh, and there are a many.

So thats what this week's prompt is.... Question??

Whats a question you are giving yourself? Is there one you just don't know the answer to and you can't stop thinking about it? Try journaling about it. Maybe it'll help?

Here's my page for this week. I did another painting. I wanted to start my new moleskine out with another painting. Also I'm nervous about painting in front of all the other students soon. Isn't that silly? I am though. I'll admit it. I am getting all the nervous/practice energy out I can painting now.

I like this page, but the pugs face is a little off for my liking. I wish his face could have been a little more smooshed. Dogs are hard to do. That hair is tricky.

I must add this at the very bottom of this post though it has nothing to do with heart the arts. I am very upset that bloglines is going down. I have used it exclusively for years now. Is there anything out there similar other than google reader??? I really don't like google reader. :(

Help!

P.S. Lizard was last seen in shower. I could not catch him. Still on loose.

Friday, September 10, 2010

I am planning on having a turkey sandwich with a chocolate pudding cup for lunch. Gosh I'm already hungry.

I feel a bit behind the 8 ball already today and its only 8 am. Don't you love days like that? *insert sarcasm* lol. Dani noted yesterday how she hated when she saw lizards and such in her house, because it reminded her of how other "critters" can get in. Well wouldn't ya know this morning I had to run into the livingroom to slay a HUGE freaking spider. Ick. I hate those things. Those two things are pretty much common occurrences in Florida though. You have to live in like a Ft. Knox of a 3rd story apartment to not get them. Even then you might want to know some sort of voodoo priestess who can chant a spider/lizard protection spell on your abode because they will get in somehow. I try to ignore it, the best I can. The lizards I catch and release. Sorry spiders I have no mercy for you. You will be killed on sight. I have no time for silliness and you are way to big for me to even fathom thinking of catching and releasing you. If you want to live hide better or stay outside.

Today is last day to work on my color theories. I'm excited. I have to admit I love being able to do my art classes. It sure beats working on bankruptcy forms any day let me tell you! (thats what I was doing last semester)

This morning I finished a card for the new Caardvark sketch challenge. Here's the sketch.

And here's the card I made. Its so Halloweeny and cute!

Tomorrow is the new Heart the arts prompt! Thanks for stopping by.

There is a loose lizard somewhere behind my stove

Well I was going to wait till later today to post a blog post and try to get a card done today for 2S4y. But then I realized... Whoops! Its Thursday and I have no page done for Saturday for Heart the arts! Eek! Talk about waiting till the last minute. So thats what I'm doing today. I'm working on that. Last night I carved stamps while watching my newest Netflix the last disk of season two, Secret life of the American Teenager. God that is a good show.

Have no fear I do have something to share today other than me droning on about a teeny bopper show. Oh and how I could drone on.. Yesterday I snuck some pictures with my camera phone of my painting class. I figured you might like to see them. Eh? Maybe? :)

Here's what I'm working on. Its my color theory paper. It doesn't look like much because this is just my paper I'm painting on. I have to actually cut this paper up and put the pieces on another paper kind of like paint chips.

Here's kind of what it will look like, though not really. This girl's chart isn't exactly right and the teacher wants more creativity less rigidness. lol.

And finally my classroom. Exciting huh? Off to the gym today then back to work on my art journal. Tomorrow I'm going back to my art class to get extra work in on my color theories as you can see I need it. It is due on Monday! Thanks for stopping by!

Pugs are still on my brain. Now I'm thinking maybe I should foster one.

Its supposed to be coming into fall, but here its just really going into my fav part of summer. The cooler really nice weathered summer. The part where we get 80 degree days and lovely mornings. I'll miss my sweltering summer though. Even if it is beastly hot and humid.

I love it here. I'm a Florida girl. I've always said we have seasons. We do. We have hot, hotter, dang I'm starting to sweat, less hot, and woo thats a bit chilly. 5 seasons in Florida instead of the 4 everywhere else. I guess you could combine hot and hotter if you would like.

This week I was able to do the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. I feeling in the summery mood used one of my summer photos from this year.

Here's the sketch.

And here is my layout.

I have school today and a doctor appointment for Logan. It'll be a busy day running around. I got all I needed to done yesterday to get ready for the remainder of the week. I even washed the huskies when I got them home. I picked up Dakota (who is 62lbs) and put him in the bathtub. I think I might have hurt my hip a bit. Not cool.. I'm going to wait to go to the gym till Thursday just in case.

Thanks for stopping by! Off to leave my bloggers some comment love.

Laundry and Mosquito Bites left overs

I have to say I think that this Labor day was the best one we've had as a family in a long time. I had a great time. Sure there were WAY too many mosquitos. We also did more "glamping" than camping, but still! It was fun! Here's a couple pics. We had a campsite on the water. Back behind our campsite in the water there were a few wild dolphins swimming around the first morning we woke up. Very cool.. I had a great time. I think the boys did too. We went to the beach, the fort, and the playground many, many, many times.

I have to admit it was nicer to not camp with the dogs. I missed them being there, but gosh it was easier. Its so stressful camping with them. Its like having three 2 yr olds compared to just one, when you have the dogs and Leo. When its Lewis, me, and the boys well its so peaceful. We can leave the camper go to the beach and not have to worry at all.

We even considered taking the ferry from Ft. Desoto to Egmont Key Island, but it was 20 bucks a head AND you were stuck there for like 5 hours. Thats not cool with a 2 year old. If were a young couple going there with out kids or with older kids that'd be a blast. There is something similar at Honeymoon Island over in Palm Harbor, Florida that has a ferry that takes you out to Caladesi Island for 8 bucks a head and the ferry goes back and forth every hour. I've been to Honeymoon Island a billion times. I like it. It has a great dog beach. Well those are my little tidbits about Florida park beaches.

Onto arty stuff! First off Kathy Martin's digital kit this week. This is my last week being on her DT team. 6 months went by fast right? Well this week is the Halloween kit again, because it didn't come out last week it is coming out today. I made a cute card to go with the treat bags I made last week.

Here's the card. I made it with this sketch from Cardabilities in mind.

I've gotta go get my dogs, go to the gym, and hopefully finish all this laundry! Good god the laundry. There's always so much of it after camping. Thanks for stopping by!

Heart the arts prompt week 36

I'm excited for the long weekend ahead. I'm actually writing this post in advance. I am out in the open wild camping with my family. Now when I say camping I mean, in our pop up camper that has air conditioning. Because who are we kidding? It's Florida. Its DANG hot here in Florida in September. Heck. Most months its dang hot here. But we're together. We're having fun. We're enjoying our long weekend. We'll be camping at a campground where there is a beach. I love that. I'll be taking tons of pictures!

So thats what the theme prompt for this week is... Together.

Go with it where ever you choose. What is being together to you. What do you like to do together. What does it mean for you to be together. Who do you wish you were together with? Whatever! Just get it in that journal of yours.

Here's my page.

I drew the lovebirds and painted them in acrylic paint. All this talk of painting in my painting class I had to sit down and actually paint something! I couldn't wait.

Have a great holiday weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

I'm in the middle of gesso'ing papers as I type

Yesterday was an interesting painting class. We learned how to mix our own black. Well I should say we HAD to mix our own black and then do a color theory with it. This is making an 11 color chart with shades from white to black with your made black. Black is not an easy color to "make". It looks black when you make it. But then when you add white, BOOM its then BLUE! Grr.. or some shade of blue. Grey is a tricky beast I tell you. I had to do the exercise 3 times before getting it the right black color.

We're doing 7 color theories due by the 13th of this month. They are interesting. I've never done anything so "techinical" before in art.

So thats what I learned yesterday. Black. (prussian blue+brunt umber+altrusian crimson=black)
There are a few other recipes of course. Mainly its a blue, red and brown together. Light on the blue...

Onto what I made for the blog post! I got the sketch this week from 2s4y.

I made this Halloween card last night with my hand carved grim reaper stamp. The paper and rubons are BG. Hambly transperency. death bottle from cloud 9 design paper, and death stickers alphas from Reminsce.

Today is water aerobics which is not that hard. Its fun though and something different for an hour. I enjoy being in the water regardless. I like to swim laps afterwards. Then I'm debating about a Sams trip or taking Leo to the library. Both are needed, but neither are really something I'm wanting to do. I really do need to get food supplies though. Gotta go! Thanks for stopping by!

Caramel apple shakes are at Steak N' Shake again. Eek! Must stay away!(I'll have at least 1)

I've filled up my old moleskine journal now. I did my heart the arts prompt for this coming Saturday on the last page and its done.

I now have to work on scanning each page in the way I would like so that I can make it into an interactive book to put on my blog. I'd really like to do that. I'm going to be more careful in scanning each page with my new moleskine now knowing what I have to do to get them interactive to look a certain way. Here is where my book is so far to look at.

Now onto the new moleskine. I decorated the front yesterday. I like how it turned out. Somehow I've got some sort of crustacean thing going on with the front of my moleskine covers. But I'll go with that.

I just realized I missed a Scrap that poetry challenge! Bah! I wanted to do that one too. Well there's a new one up now. Off to check out. There's also a new Cardabilities and of course I still want to try to get the 2S4Y card done this week. It is Wed already and we're doing stuff this weekend so this is a bit of a blown up ideal of what will get done. Oh well. Have a great day everyone!
