Lions oh my!

I've enjoyed painting alot this week. I paid and have been taking this class by Alisa Burke. I haven't done much with it. I did watch and work on this a bit yesterday in my art journal. I'm not entirely comfortable drawing in pen with out doing it in pencil first. But here was my first try at it.

I really miss doing my weekly art journal pages. This year's challenge has really went into the toliet. Last year was so dedicated. I have to keep telling myself its only April (almost May) time to get to stepping! That is what I plan to do.

Yesterday I went to a thrift store and found a new book for my collection. I don't know if I ever mentioned that I have an effientity for vintage children's books? Well I do. Especially those with illustrations of lions in them. Well this beauty was 25 cents. I love it! I also really like well illustrated children readers.

Well I have to find some lunch to eat and paint a little before I have to go. Thanks for stopping by!

That drawings/painting makes me envy the natural gift some people have, like you have to do such things, things look so easy when made by hands such as yours and if I try to do something it looks harder. Well... I guess skills also need so hard work and I haven't been drawings or painting it he last years that much, maybe I should complain. I just wanted to say you are amazing!

ooooooooooh! gorgeous skull! awesome page, actually!

i'm thinking this year has been less intense for you b/c last year was SO FULL ON! especially the fall, all those classes and rush to work on paintings all at once. don't think of this as a "funk" think of it as a time of fallow fields where you're allowing the creative soil to get nutritious again!!!

(plus you've got pug ppl chasin' ya 24/7... that takes up a lot of time!) :) :) :) (but it's awesome to be seeing AJ pages and blogposts again, that's for sure!) ♥♥♥♥♥

I've been looking at Alisa's course but drawing in pen straight off scares me too. I think I might just take the leap and do it soon. Great sketch.
The illustrations in that book are great, they remind me of a few of my childhood books.
